Custom walk gates, driveway gates, and wide access openings built to match any fence material. Locally installed by Royal Fence Group throughout the Lake Norman area.
A fence is only as functional as its gate. We build and install custom gates in every material we offer, sized and configured for your specific opening and use case.
Single-swing walk gates for pedestrian access. Standard widths from 36” to 48”. Available in wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link to match any fence.
Single-panel swing gates for vehicle access up to 10’ wide. Hinged to a reinforced post with heavy-duty hardware. Wood, vinyl, aluminum, or chain link.
Two-panel swing gates for wider openings — typically 10’ to 16’. Ideal for driveways, side-yard vehicle access, and boat or RV storage.
Oversized openings for equipment, trailers, or large vehicles. We can configure openings up to 20’+ with the right post and hardware setup.
Self-closing, self-latching gates for pool enclosures. Installed to meet NC residential pool barrier code. Aluminum is the most popular material for pool access gates.
Sagging hinges, latches that won’t catch, gates that drag or swing on their own — we can repair or replace gate hardware on any existing fence.
A gate that sags, drags, or fails to latch within a year is a sign of poor installation, not poor material. Here’s what we do differently.
Gate posts are always larger and set deeper than line posts. Extra concrete footing prevents the post from shifting and pulling the gate out of alignment over time.
We use commercial-grade hinges, latches, and drop rods rated for the weight and frequency of use. No lightweight residential hardware on drive gates.
We account for ground clearance, swing arc, and seasonal ground movement at the time of installation — so the gate works correctly in all conditions.
Every gate is built or sourced to match your fence exactly in material, height, style, and color — whether it’s going in with a new fence or being added to an existing one.

— Jason M., Google ReviewRoyal Fence Group installs custom gates and entry systems for homeowners throughout the Lake Norman corridor and greater Charlotte metro. Whether you need a simple walk gate added to an existing fence or a wide double-drive opening for your driveway, we build gates in every material we offer — wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link — matched to your fence and built with hardware that holds up long-term.
Gates are one of the most common failure points we see when homeowners call for repairs. Undersized posts, lightweight hardware, and poor clearance at installation are almost always the cause. When we install a gate, we build it right the first time — oversized posts set in concrete, commercial-grade hardware, and proper swing clearance — so you're not calling us back in a year.

Yes. We add gates to existing fences regularly. As long as there’s a suitable location and the existing posts are in good condition, we can cut an opening and frame in a gate. If the existing posts aren’t suitable for a gate, we’ll set new dedicated gate posts alongside them.
Walk gates are typically 36”–48”. Single drive gates go up to about 10’. Double drive gates handle openings from 10’ to 16’. For wider equipment access, we can configure openings beyond 16’ with the right post setup — let us know what you need to get through.
We build gates in wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link — whatever matches your fence. If you need a gate on an existing fence, bring photos and we’ll match the material, height, and style as closely as possible.
Yes. NC residential pool barrier code requires pool gates to be self-closing and self-latching, with the latch on the pool side and out of reach of small children. We install pool gates to meet these requirements. We’ll make sure your gate passes inspection before we leave.
Usually, yes. A dragging gate is typically caused by hinge failure, a shifting post, or the gate itself warping over time. We’ll come out and diagnose the issue. In many cases it’s a hardware replacement or post reset — not a full gate replacement. We’ll give you a straight answer on what it actually needs.
